STANDARD AND CERTIFICATIONS
The Mejurua Project is also distinct thanks to its commitment to achieve high standard and efficiency certifications.
The Mejurua Project is part of the REDD+ scheme (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) since it is focused on the conservation of the forest territory as well as its ability to create employment opportunities while maintaining sustainability’s best practice.
The carbon credits will be registered according to the Verified Carbon Standards (VCS) of Verra, using VM 0007 methods for AFOLU (Agriculture, Forestry and other Land Use) initiatives. The compliance of Project activities with the standard will be periodically assessed by the Validation and Verification Body (VVB), an independent, third-party authorized body.
The carbon credits generated by the project will receive an additional certification, the Climate, Community and Biodiversity standards (CCB), due to the project’s remarkably positive impact on the local communities as well as the biodiversity.
In addition, the sustainable forest management and the wood transformation activities will obtain the Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC), to highlight our commitment to the management and conservation of forest territory.
