Families in Riozinho celebrate access to human rights through the Mejuruá Project

“We have electricity, water, and internet.” That’s how many residents of Riozinho describe the changes brought by the Mejuruá Project to their community. The arrival of solar energy, clean water, and internet has not only improved the daily lives of families but also ensured access to basic rights that had long been awaited. Today, the community celebrates these transformations that go beyond comfort — they represent the foundation for a life with greater autonomy and dignity.
Shared Governance
In the Mejuruá Project, families had an active voice in choosing the improvements that would truly make a difference in their daily lives. Through conversations and meetings with the community, it was the residents themselves who identified the most urgent needs—such as electricity, clean water, internet, and security over the land they live on. This process of collective decision-making not only ensured that the solutions were effective but also strengthened the sense of belonging, showing that real change happens when it’s built together.
During a public hearing in Carauari, the communities were heard alongside local authorities and community associations, which made it possible to clearly understand the community’s priorities.
Based on this, the project aims to deliver solutions that improve the quality of life for the local population, providing access to essential resources such as electricity, clean water, internet, and land rights. The commitment goes beyond immediate support, with the goal of building a sustainable network where communities can grow autonomously alongside the environment.
Land Grants and Security
Land granting is one of the most important actions of the project, as it provides legal security and stability for families who have lived in the region for years. By ensuring land ownership, people become the rightful owners of their spaces and can care for the territory in a more sustainable way. In addition, this action promotes environmental conservation and supports local development. It also strengthens economic autonomy and contributes to food security, improving the overall quality of life.
The impact of the Mejuruá Project goes far beyond improving living conditions. Communities that once struggled to access basic services now have new opportunities for development. The project is paving the way for these families to live with greater dignity, while respecting their roots and their land.
